Coffee & Coffee Stations
I’m a coffee with chicory chic, it’s the norm in my neck of the woods. My grandfather brewed the strongest coffee or “sludge”. He would fill a cup with milk, add a generous amount of sugar, top it with a shot of coffee, and say, “this is for my cheri’s”. We thought we were grown, drinking our “coffee”, and his children, our parents, weren’t happy that he was giving us “coffee”. Really it was a weak substitute for Cafe Au Lait, you know the PG version.
As I got older and experienced real coffee I didn’t care for the taste. I would only drink coffee after a fancy shmancy dinner, or during ball season (#NOLA term). It wasn’t until I joined a small church where we would meet early to drink coffee and congregate, the Pastor had a thing for coffee, and before I knew it I was a coffee connoisseur…WHY???
Enough of me ranting about how I started drinking coffee. I’m writing this post because I’m sprucing up a clients kitchen and she wants a coffee station…we found a small nook to accommodate her wish (her look…industrial farmhouse vibe).  She was inspired by the tiny piece of real estate within my home that was converted into my personal coffee station. I have this indoor grill unit that was being neglected because the man of the house put two huge grills outside; I’m guessing it’s a man thing, the grills!  Anytywayz, I converted the space into my Cafe Au Lait Coffee and Tea station. Although, I’m more of a tea drinker these days I still rendezvous with coffee, especially when my Dad is in town, it’s our morning date, and it brings me joy to wake up at the crack of dawn to enjoy a cup of coffee with my first man crush.
(FYI, I now own a Keurig which I originally thought was an abomination after all, I grew up on BREWED coffee. I didn’t purchase it, it was against my beliefs, but my man bought it for me…yes, I drank the kool-aid!).  Attached are some coffee plant photos, I think they’re quit stunning, and some inspiration photos that my client chose.
